The Siemens competition was begun in 1998 to recognize America s best math and science students. Finalists were chosen at regional competitions and flown to New York for a weekend that included bowling and a Broadway show before Monday s awards ceremony. The contest has also been known as the Siemens Westinghouse Competition.

FRANKFURT, Dec. 7, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Siemens (NYSE:SI) AG has reached an agreement with Balcke-Duerr GmbH Deutschland to acquire the heat-recovery steam generator business of Vienna-based Balcke Duerr Austria GmbH. No financial details were disclosed. FRANKFURT, Dec. 7, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Nigeria has frozen an order to Siemens (NYSE:SI) AG worth 700,000 eur and said it will not award any contracts to the company until charges of bribery are cleared, Financial Times Deutschland said, citing the minister of information and communications John Odey. Nigerian authorities are investigating against Siemens Nigeria, in which the German engineering company holds 68 pct, the paper reported.
