Nigeria suspends 700,000 eur order to Siemens until bribery charges are cleared

FRANKFURT, Dec. 7, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) — Nigeria has frozen an order to Siemens (NYSE:SI) AG worth 700,000 eur and said it will not award any contracts to the company until charges of bribery are cleared, Financial Times Deutschland said, citing the minister of information and communications John Odey. Nigerian authorities are investigating against Siemens Nigeria, in which the German engineering company holds 68 pct, the paper reported.
Siemens has been informed that an order was suspended, the newspaper quoted a Siemens spokesman as saying.
