Siemens Jittery Over FG?s Blacklist

Daily Champion (Lagos) 7 December 2007 Posted to the web 7 December 2007 Lagos Tension yesterday rose at the Isolo, Lagos headquarters of Siemens Nigeria following the blacklisting of the telecommunications equipment supplier by the Federal Government over the 10 million euros bribery scam, as top management of the company embarked on marathon meeting. This development came as business activities at the company slowed down, given the few number of customers who visited.

Daily Champion recalls that Federal Government shut out the multi-national telecommunications firm, from all its official transactions. Siemens is allegedly involved in over 12 million euro bribery scam allegedly in which an estimated 10 million euro was expended on Nigerian government officials; mostly former Ministers of Communications. Confirming the marathon session by Siemens Nigeria top management team, its Head Corporate Communications, Mr.

Olusegun Akinlabi, who refused to make any official pronouncement, disclosed however, that meeting has been going on.
